Sykliä > Q+A for Tremulous Plants

Video Installation Series

"Q+A for Tremulous Plants" is intended for installation in front of plants blown by the wind, emphasizing the similarity of leaf movements to heads shaking and nodding. The subtitled questions were asked to the subjects in the video, and their motions are their true responses. I attempted to ask questions applicable to both plants and humans, and bring focus to the parallels of wind and query. The audio is from one of the interviews, where a colleague translated the questions into Finnish for the residents of a hostel in Haukijärvi, Finland.

This is part five in a series of six short, looped videos and animations titled "Sykliä" (Finnish for “cycles”). It is a collection of videos to be screened for certain elements in a landscape. Rather than background, landscape becomes foreground, foremost audience.
